The background music is "May You" by Tony Diana
Hello.
My name is Tony Diana I am a Music composer and artist. Expression has always been part of who I am. Weather it's music, art, poetry, paint, Photography, Computers I like to experiment with it all.
When I was a kid in school we had to write an original short story. I remember being like eight years old going up to the teacher and asking how I was supposed to put the music in. I heard it in my head but didn't know how to express it.
OK..I was a silly child...given. But my home life gave me lots of room for expression. My mother was extremely liberal. Allowing me to take apart irons or broken TV’s To see how they worked. Instilling in me the ability to be curious and explore all things. I think that is a core to why I like to cross express concepts.
I also would draw in class as a child when I probably should have been studying. But my curiosity always lead me to places that did not exist. Colorful and vibrant worlds where the impossible happened. Places populated by extreme and normal characters that excited my imagination
Music was always a fascination to me because it was ethereal you could not touch it but there it was. Something that could make you laugh, cry, scream, feel happy...alter your present state and yet it was not a material thing...Fascinating
I remember the first time I heard TANGERINE DREAM or the first time I heard the STAR WARS theme and knew what I wanted to do forever. Music would be my main love concerning the arts. At ten I hopped on the family air organ and slowly but surely taught myself how to play music. I would mimic whatever I heard. The Olympics themes. Movie themes.. whatever. It wasn't long before I started to write my own music. Not to long before I started to get music equipment to make my own music sound halfway decent.
All of this lead me to where I am now. Musician, Artist, Arm chair philosopher. That's only the start...
After sitting in my room for many a year creating all this stuff I realized I had no outlet for it. I loved it but no one could understand it but me.
That's when about 1990 I found a group of people who thought like I did...(REALLY) Other humans are as weird as I was. That group was Downstairs Productions Company. An all original theater group led by Allyson Passmore. Who after feeling frustration with doing 'Annie' a bazillion times decided she would create her own theater group where she could express her own creative ideas and original plays.
At the time they where fairly new and venture into the then not so trendy Medieval Banquets. They were also in need of a composer to write medieval music and songs for their show...Enter me.
I was not met with approval at the get go. Allyson did not like the idea of electronic music. She thought it sounded fake. I HAD TO PROVE HER WRONG. I made a demo tape. She loved it! I was in. For the next fifteen years I wrote over thirty original scores and musicals for her.
Along the way we also fell in love got married and raised our beautiful
daughter Christina. Now if all of the sounds like a fairytale.
(You know
lone prince sealed away from the world finds princess who leads him from the
darkness and they live happily ever after) Well it is. She made me whole and
complimented and challenged my creativity like no one else ever could (Or
probably will).
Now one of my primary dreams was to be john Williams and create the next Star Wars theme...That's a fairytale!
But a more realistic goal is to become the best composer I know how and start composing for what ever came my way. I may find fame I may not. But I will enjoy the ride and experiences I am fortunate to get.
HEY! I got the most beautiful wife in the universe. (I used her as a model for many of my photographs) And the most well behave and brightest 15 year old daughter. I couldn't ask for anymore.
